Kendra Gottsleben

Kendra Gottsleben is defined by her positive outlook on life and success in overcoming obstacles.  Seldom does one meet a person with a bigger spirit, more determination and greater optimism and spiritual faith than this young woman.  While she may be small in stature at just 3 feet tall, her heart and personality could fill a room.  Born with a rare medical condition called Mucopolysaccharidpsis (MPS) Type VI, she receives weekly treatments to provide her body with the necessary enzymes to stay alive. She shows her physical and mental strength each day facing challenges few people ever consider, but handles each with a smile knowing it's part of life.  Giving her all into everything she does, she exemplifies her life's personal mission statement, “When life hands you lemons, turn right around and squeeze those lemons to make the BEST lemonade possible.”  With her life experiences, she is focused on a career of helping children, young adults, and their families deal with severe or life-threatening illnesses or disabilities.

In 2012 she published her first book, Live Laugh Lemonade: A Journey of Choosing to Beat the Odds in which she shares an account of life with a rare disorder called Mucopolysaccharidosis, Type VI (MPS VI), also known as Maroteaux-Lamy.  In her book, she discusses living, laughing, and taking the lemons life has served up and making them into lemonade.  Recently her second book, Kendra's Lemonade, was published for children.
